The Karuna Institute offers a two-year intensive training in Craniosacral Biodynamics. Franklyn Sills is the course director. He, along with the Karuna teaching staff, has pioneered the theoretical and clinical teaching approaches used in this course. This approach has influenced many other trainings around the world. Franklyn is the author of Craniosacral Biodynamics Vol. 1 & 2, North Atlantic Press.
Craniosacral Biodynamics is an approach that acknowledges the deepest foundations and wholeness of the human system. In this concept, an ordering principle called primary respiration manifests as a vital life force, or biodynamic potency, in the human body. This potency manifests in the fluids of the body and orders and integrates all cellular and tissue function from the moment of conception until death. Students learn to perceive the subtle rhythmic tide-like pulsations that primary respiration generates, and the intention of the work is to re-establish the relationship between it and chaotic and disordered cells, tissues and fluids.
In this course participants will be introduced to some of the fundamental concepts of Craniosacral Biodynamics as taught at the Karuna Institute. The nature of the therapeutic holding environment, the negotiation of touch and contact, and some of the important perceptual processes used in clinical work will be introduced.
