The Karuna Institute is a non-profit centre. It offers professional tranings in Core Process Psychotherapy and Craniosacral Biodynamics. Its courses are deeply influenced by Buddhist principles and world view. It is located in beautiful Dartmoor National Park in Devon, England. Students come to the Institute from all over the world.
Core Process Psychotherapy
Core Process Psychotherapy is a Buddhist influenced psychotherapy form developed at the Institute. Its fundamental premise is that awareness is inherently healing. Much of clinical work is geared to initiate an enquiry, by both therapist and client, into the nature of our arising sense of self in the present. It is grounded in the perception that awareness is a wider universal principle which underlies all states of conciousness. At the core of our being is a ground of universal intelligence which is never lost and becomes the heart of therapeutic process. This is sometimes called "Big Mind" in Zen, or "Brilliant Sanity" in Tibetan tradition. Training consists of a six month Foundation
course in Core Process Psychotherapy and a four year Professional Training In Core Process Psychotherapy. The training program is accredited by the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP). The Karuna Institute also offers a Masters Degree qualification validated by Middlesex University.
Craniosacral Biodynamics
Craniosacral Biodynamics is a form of Craniosacral Therapy pioneered at the Institute. It is oriented to what, within the cranial field, is called the Breath of Life. The Breath of Life is considered to be an expression of a Creative Intelligence which is at work within each of us and within the universe as a whole. Within any state of disturbance or pathology within the human system, this Intelligence is always at work. The training program aims to give students grounded clinical skills relative to the subtle levels of organisational forces within the human system. The Professional Training in Craniosacral Biodynamics consists of ten, five day seminars spread over a two year period. Application for the training is open to qualified practitioners of orthodox and complementary medicine. The training programme is
accredited by the Craniosacral Therapy Association of the United Kingdom.
